On June 24th, 2009, Learning@Cisco will implement program changes to the CCNA Voice certification.   There will now be two options available for candidates wishing to achieve their CCNA Voice certification: A commercial option and an enterprise option.
 
The new CCNA Voice Certification enterprise option assesses skills/knowledge related to the Cisco Unified Communications Manager 6.0 (CUCM 6.0). It is typically employed by large organizations such as governments, large companies, and colleges.  Passing the CVOICE #642-436 exam will meet the requirements for this option.

Q: On June 24th, what changes are being made to the CCNA Voice certification?
 
A: On June 24th, 2009, Cisco will make available two options for candidates wishing to achieve their CCNA Voice certification: A commercial option and an enterprise option.  CCNA Voice will now be the pre-requisite for CCVP as of June 24th, but there will be two options to earn it.
 
If passing the commercial option’s IIUC exam is used to attain CCNA Voice certification, passing the CVOICE 6.0 exam is still required to meet the requirements for CCVP.

Q: What are the differences between the two options?

A: The CCNA Voice Certification enterprise option assesses skills/knowledge related to the Cisco Unified Communications Manager 6.0 (CUCM 6.0). It is typically employed by large organizations such as governments, large companies, and colleges.  The CVOICE #642-436 exam will be required for this option.
 
The CCNA Voice Certification commercial option assesses skills/knowledge related to the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express 4.1 (Cisco UME) and Cisco Unity Express (CUE) solutions typically used by medium & small organizations such as companies with less than 2,000 employees, retail businesses, and small school districts.  The IIUC #640-460 exam will be required for this option.
 
Q: Are there any course or exam updates being made to the current CCNA Voice curriculum?
 
A: There are no training content or exam changes with this new CCNA Voice update.
 
The current qualifying exam for CCNA Voice is the IIUC exam which assesses skills and knowledge related to commercial telephony solutions from Cisco.  This is the commercial option.
The new enterprise option being introduced uses the CVOICE 6.0 exam. The enterprise option assesses skills/knowledge related to the Cisco Unified Communications Manager 6.0 (CUCM 6.0).
 
Q: With CCNA Voice now being the pre-requisite for CCVP, can I use the IIUC exam as a replacement for CVOICE 6.0 when working towards my CCVP certification?
 
A: No, CCVP requires the knowledge and skills validated by the professional-level CVOICE 6.0 #642-436 exam.
 
Although CVOICE 6.0 is one of two options for attaining the CCNA Voice certification, it is also required for all CCVP candidates.
 
Q: Can I still use the CVOICE 5.0 # 642-432 exam that I have passed towards my CCVP? 
 
A: As long as it has been less than 3 years from the date you passed the exam, a valid CVOICE 5.0 exam can be used in lieu of the current CVOICE 6.0 requirement.
 
Q: Since the CVOICE 5.0 exam satisfies a requirement for CCVP, will it also satisfy the requirement for CCNA Voice?
 
A: No, the CVOICE 5.0 exam is an older exam with different exam assessment items.
 
CCNA Voice certification requires passing either a valid CVOICE 6.0 or IIUC exam to achieve certification.
 
Q: Why can’t passing the CVOICE 5.0 exam be used to complete the requirements for CCNA Voice since it satisfies a requirement for CCVP?
 
A: A current CCNA Voice certification will require passing either the currently available CVOICE 6.0 or IIUC exams.  These 2 exam options assess candidates on the latest products and technologies used to build robust voice networks.
 
The CVOICE 5.0 exam is an older exam with different exam assessment items.
 
Q: If I have passed the CVOICE 5.0 exam as I work towards the CCVP, and don't have the CCNA Voice, will I be required to take IIUC or CVOICE 6.0 to get the CCNA Voice pre-requisite now required for CCVP?
